Trilochanapuram, a quiet village under Ibrahimpatnam mandal, is set to play a key role in the proposed Greater Vijayawada plan. As per the urban expansion roadmap, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation — currently spread over 61.88 sq. km — is expected to grow to about 416 sq. km, bringing several surrounding areas under its limits.

Alongside Mulapadu, Machivaram, Navi Pothavaram, Ketanakonda, and Kotikalapudi, Trilochanapuram has been shortlisted for inclusion in this ambitious project. Its location near major transport corridors and proximity to the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway make it an attractive link between the city and the fast-developing Amaravati capital region.

The government’s long-term vision aims to merge Vijayawada, Guntur, and Amaravati into a single megacity by 2050. Within this framework, villages like Trilochanapuram are expected to gain new infrastructure, better connectivity, and urban facilities, while retaining their local identity.

Urban planners highlight that integrating such peripheral areas is essential to balance population growth, employment hubs, and housing within the Inner Ring Road. With decisions on Greater Vijayawada likely soon, Trilochanapuram stands on the threshold of transformation — from a rural settlement to an integral part of a modern metropolitan landscape.
